Congress urges EC to scrap EVMs, says bring back Paper ballots
Few Of The Political Parties Including The Congress Have Been Constantly Alleging That EVMs Were Tampered And Are Demanding To Bring Back The Ballot Paper System.
Congress on Saturday advised the Election Commission to scrap the electronic voting machines (EVM) and get the old style of paper ballots in future.
During its 84th plenary session, the party said that it is necessary to stop the misuse of EVMs to manipulate the fate of the popular verdict.
Few of the political parties including the Congress have been constantly alleging that EVMs were tampered and are demanding to bring back the ballot paper system.
The party even mentioned that other big democracies have also adopted to ballot paper system to restore the credibility of the whole electoral process.
In a resolution made in the plenary session, the party said BJP’s move of simultaneous elections is misplaced and is incompatible with the Constitution.
Current Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been pressing upon the idea of ‘One Country One Election’ contending that it will save money and time.
The party is also resolved to adopt a realistic approach and is looking for cooperation with all parties with a similar approach to defeat the BJP-RSS in the 2019 general election.
