PM Modi to roll out Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in Ranchi, Jharkhand on Sunday (September 23). The brand new scheme by the Centre, Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana, will ensure that every citizen gets their part of the healthcare. The Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana is slated to become the “world’s largest government-funded healthcare program” with more than 50 crore beneficiaries under it.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and posted regarding the launch of Ayushman Bharat.

"I will be in Ranchi to mark the launch of PMJAY- Ayushman Bharat. During the programme, foundation stones for medical colleges in Chaibasa and Koderma will be laid. Health and wellness centres will also be inaugurated. We are committed to building a healthy and fit India!" his tweet read. 

For secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation, AB-PMJAY will ensure a health cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year. As many as around 50 crore beneficiaries accounting to over 10.74 crore entitled families will be eligible for the benefits under AB-PMJAY.

PM Modi will also launch 10 wellness centres as a part of AB-PMJAY scheme in Ranchi on Sunday.

The Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana will eye deprived families and help them use the health services that they need without facing financial stress.

As per the latest Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC), there are 80.3 million poor and deprived families in rural areas and 23.3 million in urban areas.

PM Modi announced the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana on 72 Independence Day and had said, “Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Abhiyaan will be launched on September 25 this year. It is high time we ensure that the poor of India get proper access to good quality and affordable healthcare”.

Narendra Modi is also scheduled to lay the foundation stone for medical colleges at Koderma and Chiabasa and will address a diverse gathering at the event.

Following the events in Ranchi, Jharkand, PM Modi will leave for Gangtok, Sikkim to inaugurate Pakyong Airport on September 24.
