The wife of the accused Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar on Wednesday demanded a narco test for both Sengar and the victim in the Unnao gang rape case.

Sangeeta Senger, wife of Kuldeep Sengar, pleaded to the media and demanded a narco test for both Sengar and the rape survivor. Sangeeta argued that no evidence had presented till yet, but Semgar had already been labelled as a rapist. She alleged that the whole family is being traumatised mentally.

Sangeeta told the reporters, “There's political motive behind this. Make my husband & girl (rape victim) undergo narco test. My daughters are traumatised. We're being mentally harassed. No evidence has been presented yet, still he's being labelled as rapist.”

Sangeeta also added that if Sengar is proven guilty, then the whole family will give up their lives. She demanded for a fair law and justice.

She said, “My husband is innocent. If he is proven guilty, the entire family will give up their lives. The way evidences are being hidden, it is not correct, we want justice.”

On the other hand, the 18-year-old survivor, whose father died on Monday, earlier attempted suicide in front of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Lucknow residence. She alleged that she was confined to a hotel room by the district administration, while her uncle was killed by the accused MLA’s henchmen, who killed her father later.

“I want justice, why are they pressuring me for an apology? Do they want my (another) uncle to be killed too?” she said.

Meanwhile, the Opposition Congress has taken this as a lead to blame the BJP government completely. Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday took to Twitter and slammed the BJP for poor governance, and asked PM Modi to observe fast for the violence happening against women under his governance.

Gandhi tweeted, “Vandalism on a father crying for justice for his daughter in UP has embarrassed humanity. It is hoped that the Prime Minister will keep fast for the atrocities on women in the BJP rule, failure of law machinery and increasing chaos too soon.”

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had on Tuesday asked the UP government to file a detailed report in the case. It added that the allegations, if true, raise serious issues of violation of human rights of the victim’s family.

The NHRC said, “All the reports, including health screening report of the deceased at the time of his admission in the jail and medical treatment provided by the jail authorities, are to be sent. They have been given four weeks to respond.”

Earlier on Tuesday, the UP Police set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the whole matter, including the victim’s allegations on Sengar, and the death of the victim’s father.
