Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Adityanath government transfers 37 IAS officers
Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh Government Transferred 37 IAS Officers Including Gorakhpur DM In A Late Night Bureaucratic Reshuffle On Friday.
Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government transferred 37 IAS officers including Gorakhpur District Magistrate (DM) in a late night bureaucratic reshuffle on Friday.
The decision came days after Bharatiya Janata Party's defeat against the combined force of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) at Gorakhpur and Phulpur Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.
Rajeev Rautela is now appointed as Commissioner of Devipatan, while Vijayendra Pandian is set to hold the position of the new District Magistrate at Gorakhpur.
During the Gorakhpur Bypoll results, Rautela was on headlines after he barred the media from entering the counting centre.
However, this is not the first reshuffle under Yogi government.
In 2017, chief development officers (CDOs) of 16 districts including Agra, Hapur, Ghaziabad, Amethi, Farukkhabad, Basti, Gonda, Mirzapur and Varanasi were transferred by the government.
Three IAS officers have also been posted as CDOs. They are Divya Mittal (CDO Gonda), Harshita Mathur (CDO Basti), and Priyanka Niranjan (CDO Mirzapur).
This was one of the major reshuffles undertaken by the Yogi Adityanath government after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stormed to power in the state in March, 2017.
In the biggest bureaucratic shake-up last year, 84 IAS officers, including 37 district magistrates, were transferred.

On April 26, 54 IPS officers were given new postings.
Before this transfer, 20 IAS officers had been shifted and 8 others had been put on a waitlist by the state government.
