England vs India 5th Test, Day 3: Check complete scorecard as Cook stands tall in final Test

Alastair Cook continued to dominate the bowlers for the last time with his willow in his own special style and powered hosts England to a great position in the fifth Test against India at the Oval. Cook remained unbeaten on 46 runs in the last innings of his farewell Test match as England reached 114/2 at stumps on day three after heroic display by Ravindra Jadeja with the bat for visitors India in the first innings.

Earlier on day 3, Ravindra Jadeja played a brilliant knock of 86 not out to cut down England’s healthy lead after debutant Hanuma Vihari smashed a debut half-century (56) for India as they were bundled out on 292 in reply to England’s 332.

Openers Cook and Jennings started brightly but the latter was sent packing at 10. Moeen Ali (20) then came out to put a 35-run stand for the second wicket. After Ali, skipper Root and Cook cemented England’s strong command in the fifth match with a 52-run stand for the third wicket as the hosts took a 154-run lead.
