Champions League: UEFA charge Liverpool following attack on Manchester City's bus

Liverpool on Thursday, have been charged by UEFA for lighting up fireworks, acts of damage, throwing objects and crowd disturbance, after opening disciplinary proceedings against the Merseyside club.

The case will be dealt by UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on May 31. Merseyside Police confirmed two officers were injured during the incident, after home fans set off red flares and threw cans and bottles at Manchester City’s bus.

Liverpool apologised to Manchester City for the violent incident. Another bus was later sent to take the visitors home from the Anfield as the earlier coach was damaged and was termed ‘undrivable.’

Liverpool Police were accused of releasing City’s bus route to the Anfield Stadium.

Liverpool won 3-0 against Manchester City in the first leg of UEFA Champions League tie.
