Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah set a new Premier League record with 32 goals in 38 Premier League games this season to guarantee Liverpool’s place in the UEFA Champions League next season as the Reds beat Brighton and Hove Albion 4-0 at Anfield on the final match-week on Sunday.

Whereas, fifth-placed Chelsea failed to put any kind of pressure on five time UCL winners by going down 3-0 against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

At the bottom of the table, Swansea’s seven season stay ended in the Premier League as they joined West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City in the Championship. Liverpool are targeting for their sixth European trophy when they face two time defending Champions League winner Real Madrid on May 26.

But Jurgen Klopp-managed Reds knew they would have to beat Brighton to be back in the UCL next season, if they fall short in Kiev.

Salah started the proceedings with a goal on 26th minute on the clock to take his tally to 44. Centre back Dejan Lovren then extended the lead with a towering header and then Dominic Solanke then added to the tally with his first Liverpool goal, left-back and one of the key players of Liverpool this season Andy Robertson then wrapped up the game with fourth of the night for Liverpool.

In the other game, Chelsea succumbed to their 10th Premier League defeat of the season after a brace by Ayoze Perez and a Dwight Gayle strike ended their hopes, putting more pressure on Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, just six days before Chelsea’s final game of the season in the FA Cup final against Manchester United.

Whereas, Champions Manchester City broke yet another Premier League record by becoming the first side in English top flight history to reach 100 points mark as Gabriel Jesus cleverly chipped in a delicious Kevin De Bruyne’s lob pass on the last kick of the game to defeat Southampton 1-0. The victory also meant that City set a record of Premier League margin of victory of 19 points from second placed Manchester United.
