Telangana man shot in US by minor boy in carjacking incident
An Indian origin man from Telangana was shot by a 16-year-old minor outside his United States residence in Ventnor City in New Jersey. 61-year-old Sunil Edla was fatally shot by the teenager in a car-jacking incident. Sunil hailed from Medak district of Telangana and was working in hospitality industry Atlantic City.
According to local media reports, the incident took place at around 8 pm (local time) on November 15 when Sunil was leaving for work. The accused teenager boy fled the scene with his car after firing shots at him. Sunil died on the spot.

The accused minor boy has been arrested by the city police department and charged with murder, robbery, carjacking, and illegal possession of a handgun.
The victim had migrated to the US in 1987. He was scheduled to visit his family in India next month. According to reports citing family relatives, Sunil was coming to India to celebrate his mother’s 95th birthday and Christmas.
Sunil was a social person and played the piano at churches in Atlantic City during his spare time. Although the incident was not a hate crime but came in a series of attacks on Indians living in the United States.
