Noted satirist and poet Surendra Sharma, who is considered among the pioneers of stand-up comedy in India, has suffered a heart attack in Lucknow.
As per a report, Sharma had just concluded an event in Etah and was having a brief stay in the capital. Sharma was in Lucknow to meet another poet Uday Pratap Singh on Tuesday.
Sharma was admitted to Lari Cardiology Centre after doctors confirmed that he has been hit by a heart attack. He first complained of chest pain and breathlessness and was rushed to the Civil Hospital.
The poet is now reported out of danger and has been kept under observation for 72 hours.
Surendra Sharma is famous for his comedy directed on ‘plight’ of married men in India. His famous punchline is ‘Do layina suna riya hoon’ in Haryanvi dialect.
Also, his short byte comedy 'Sharma Ji Se Poocho' is also very famous among people.
