New turn of events mired JNU controversy on Thursday after three student leaders from the BJP-affiliated student organisation Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) resigned from their posts citing 'campus politics'.

Pradeep Narwal, Joint Secretary of JNU unit of ABVP, saidhe has quit the party. Rahul Yadav, President of ABVP unit ofJNU's School of Social Sciences (SSS) and its Secretary AnkitHans have also said they have quit.

They also slammed the police action on the university's campus on February 11 and Hyderabad University Research Scholar Rohith Vemula's suicide.

News agencies quoted them saying as that members of the ABVP had objected to holding of the eventfollowing which Vice Chancellor had withdrawn the permissionfor it. However, the organisers had gone ahead with the event.
