Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, one of the beloved kings and furious warrior in the history of India. Today, is the 368th birth anniversary of the Great son of Maharashtra.
Shivaji was born in Shivneri Fort, and named after the local Goddess Shivai, to whom his mother Jijabai was a great devotee. He was very secular as there were a sizeable amount of Muslim soldiers in his army.
He never thought of building a Hindu empire, as his dreams was for a Maratha empire. At the age of 16, the great warrior captured Prachandgad, his first fort.
Shivaji Maharaj, was very noble as he ensured that women of captured territories were left unharmed. Shivaji Maharaj also defeated the famous general and governor of Shayista Khan, sent by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
