Stacy Paris who had both of her legs amputated after being diagnosed with a rare disorder is giving new goals to people around the world.

The 30-year-old woman Stirlingshire is a student of molecular biology at Glasgow University who is the first Scot to sign up to the Models of Diversity campaign.

Seven years ago, Stacy was diagnosed with a rare disorder of flesh-eating bug following which she had both of her legs amputated. Stacy had her first amputation in June 2012 and her second in August 2014.  Soon after her second amputation, she began modelling and now wants the industry to sign more such models.

The student said: “According to the latest figures, one in six people in Britain has a disability but where are all the disabled models? When I was starting out, I had no-one to look up to.”

Apart from Stacy Madeline Stuart, an 18-year-old Australian with Down's syndrome, was made the face of cosmetics brand GlossiGirl.

So far Stacy has worked with companies around her hometown and she dreams of widening the range of her work and have big goals in life.

Stacy recounts the painful days when she had necrotising fasciitis seven eyars ago which changed her life completely. She said: 'It just got worse and worse, so I had to give in and go to hospital. “Nobody could explain it - there was no wound, I hadn't injured myself. It just came out of the blue.”

The model is passionate about Models of Diversity campaign. 'Young girls need to see people like them up there on the catwalks and the television screens. We're not saying, “Give us all work.” We are saying, "Represent us, and give us a chance,” Stacy told a leading daily.
