Mumbai:
Star Sports has acquired the broadcasting rights of all the pro boxing bouts of Indian star Vijender Singh scheduled to be held this year.
“Star Sports has acquired the rights from IOS Boxing Promotions and their UK partners Queensberry Promotions for the telecast of Vijender’s bouts along with the promotion and development of professional boxing in India,” a press release stated.
India’s first Olympic medallist and former World number one, Vijender, who has made a brilliant start in his professional career last year winning first three consecutive bouts, will be fighting his first bout of this year on March 12 in Liverpool.
“I am very happy all my bouts during this year will be telecast live on Star Sports, the sports broadcaster with the largest reach not only in India but abroad also. It’s good that fans can watch me live in action on Star Sports and hotstar. I am fully prepared to knockout my opponent and register fourth win of my professional career,” Vijender said.
The first bout of this year will be televised live on from 11:30 pm (IST) onwards.
