Madrassa youth assault case: We were not asked to chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, student tells News Nation

The case of assault on three Madarassa student have taken a new turn after one of the students Dilkash have denied being asked to chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai. The youth who had his hand fractured said that they were asked to chant 'Jai Mata Ki' not 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'.

"This news is false, we were not asked to chant 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai', but 'Jai Mata Ki', said the youth on being asked if he was forced to chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai.

Three boys from a particular community were allegedly beaten up outside a Madarasa for refusing to chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai slogans in Delhi’s Begumpur area. However, the boy didn’t mention any such thing in his first complaint and there were “inconsistencies” in his versions, the police said.  The incident took place on 26th March when the 18-year-old boy called the PCR and informed abou the fight.  

The three boys aged between 18 and 21 were allegedly beaten up with sticks by three other youths. The youth were taken to hospital. No injuries were found on the bodies of two and one had a fracture. An X-ray has confirmed the fracture.

The injured boy later told police that he was asked to chant “Jai Mata di” and his statement was recorded again. After the police had recorded his second statement, they said they got to know from sources that the boy told others that he and his friends were asked to chant “Bharat Mata ki Jai”.

However, the boy has not mentioned about having been asked to chant the slogan to the police yet, the official said. A case has been registered under IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 341 (wrongful restraint) and investigation is on.
