Cloudburst in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand on Sunday morning led to massive destruction resulting in widespread chaos over the region.
As per initial reports many houses have been submerged in water with several cars being drown away and many other vehicles in damaged phase.
Good news remained on the part where no loss of life has been reported so far. Rescue operations are on in the region.
Amid heavy rainfall and several landslides, the NH 58, Badrinath Highway has been closed by the authorities. The traffic is on a standstill over the region and efforts are being made for the resumption of traffic.
Rains continue to lash the region hindering the rescue operations. Families who have been affected by the cloudburst have been shifted to safer areas. As a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching the Western Himalayas, more rain is likely over the region during the next 48 to 72 hours.
