It seems history will repeat itself again in Tamil Nadu. Last year, Chennai was devastated by massive which killed over 500 people. In last 48 hours, Chennai has witnessed record rains and more is expected as the cyclone bypassed the Indian coast. Keeping the massive deluge in mind, the civic authorities have started emergency preparations.
The civic authorities have deployed over 12,000 people across the city to conduct the operations, boats have been stationed at multiple locations for emergency rescue. Even, four teams of the National Disaster Response Force have been deployed in low-lying areas.
The case can be worst, after sewage lines in Chennai have started overflowing in many areas due to rain caused by the cyclonic winds. The authorities have also set up an emergency number 1070 to receive rainfall-related grievances. The state government have been sent to other areas where heavy rainfall is expected to continue.
