New Delhi:

To give a fresh boost to their demands of an increased quota in government jobs and educational institutes, the Jat community will begin a second round agitation starting today. Considering the scale of uproar and violent protests that had erupted after the Jat quota stir and claimed many lives earlier in February, the police and administration have beefed up the security in Haryana.

To check violence and avoid any destruction, 55 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed in the state. Section 144 has also been imposed in all districts, specially in 1 km range on both sides of national highway & railway tracks.

However the concerned Gram panchayats & khap panchayats have assured the government that it will not support the protests this time.

The call for fresh agitation comes from the All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS). Dharnas are planned in 15 districts in the state and this time the protesters do not intend to block highways or railway lines but have warned of intensifying the agitation if demands are not met.
