World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5. The day marks global awareness on environment and ways to protect it. World Environment Day is run by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). To encourage people to devote to the cause of environment every year this day comes with different themes and this year World Environment Day theme is Zero Tolerance for the Illegal Wildlife trade.
Aiming to fight the bane of wildlife crime, this day is dedicated to supporting the cause of wildlife. The day was established in 1972 by the United Nation.
Elephants, Rhinos, Turtules, Whales are just some of the species that are mercilessly killed and smuggled for their meat, fur, skin, tusks etc.
