Bihar Board Chairman resigns

New Delhi:

Bihar police registered an FIR against four toppers and three others in the toppergate scam. Now soon after the education department served a show cause notice to Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh, he resigned on Wednesday.

Singh was under fire for irregularities in the intermediate results. Department’s second sow cause asked the chairman why he should not be removed for the lapses within the board. Evidence also suggest Singh's involvement into the merit list muddle that defamed the state like never before.

“As per the Act, the board’s chairman is supposed to function in a well-decided manner laid down by the government and in the larger interest of the board. It is your incompetence that made the department lodge FIR due to a lot of embarrassment to the state,” the notice read. But as the police investigation uncovers the state board’s complicity in the intermediate results, Singh’s troubles are bound to mount.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on May 6 had directed the Education department to lodge an FIR in connection with the case. "No one will be spared and action would be taken after fixing responsibility in the matter," Kumar had said. The CM ordered that the entire matter be probed by police and stern action initiated against those found guilty.
