New Delhi:

The BCCI advisory committee comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly selected former Indian captain and highest wicket taker Anil Kumble as head coach of Indian Cricket team over Ravi Shastri last week. Kumble and Shastri were two front runners for the high profile job in Indian cricket.

If media reports are to be believed, Ganguly walked out of the room when Shastri was being interviewed via video conference from Bangkok, showcasing a rift between the two former skippers.

Speaking to Times of India, Shastri said that the reason behind CAB chief’s indifferent behavior can be only explained by Ganguly himself.

The former director, Shastri said, "All I can say is that Ganguly wasn't there when I was interviewed and you should ask what problem Ganguly has with me instead of asking me."

He also added that he was disappointed to have missed out on the job after a dream run of 18 months with the Men in Blue.

Shastri took over the reins of India team after Duncan Fletcher’s tenure was over. He joined as the director of the Indian cricket team for 18 months which came to an end after ICC World Twenty20.

During his tenure India became the No.1 team in Tests and did well in both ODIs as well as T20Is.

Kumble’s first assignment with the India team will be tour to West Indies which set to start from July 21.
