Rio de Janeiro:
India’s wrestler Narsingh Yadav has been cleared by the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) to participate in the Rio Olympics after it rejected the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appeal against the clean chit given to him by NADA in a dope scandal.
Narsingh got clearance from the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) on the basis a sabotage theory to his positive dope test but it was challenged by the WADA, which had moved the CAS to determine the fate of 2010 Commonwealth Games champion.
Earlier, Narsingh was preferred over Sushil Kumar by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) to take part in Rio Olympics that fuelled a major legal battle between them. But it's time for Narsingh to put his troubles aside and deliver his best to win a medal.
Jordan Burroughs will pose a threat to him and is favorite to win the 74 kg division. For India, Sandeep Tomar and Yogeshwar Dutt are the other two wrestlers left to compete in the 57 kg and 65 kg divisions respectively.
According to the official Rio schedule, Narsingh will face Zelimkhan Khadjiev of France in the men's freestyle 74kg qualification at 18:38 IST on Friday.
