Akira movie’s trailer shows Sonakshi packing a solid punch and executing some serious action stunts that one would normally associate with male actors in commercial movies. It immediately got everyone’s attention, and the reason is that the original Tamil film Mouna Guru has a male protagonist.
Akira, directed by A R Murugadoss, is a violent showcase of police brutality. In an age, when Bollywood’s commercial movies star cast strong male leads like the Khans, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan and the Kapoors. Sonakshi Sinha is all set to break the stereotypical image of actresses in Bollywood with her rough and tough look. She plays the female protagonist in Akira.
Anurag Kashyap as villain
Anurag Kashyap plays the bad guy in Akira. The director of Gangs of Wassepur, Anurag kashyap, has donned the hat of a villain in the film. He is quite impressive in the promo as well and is showing just the kind of menace that is expected from a villain.
Bollywood’s audience is habituated of seeing the male stars powering the screen with their stunts and action scenes. There has been a dearth of films with a female protagonist in Hindi movie industry. The reason being fear of failure on the box office. But AR Murugadoss seems confident, casting the Dabangg female lead as the lead faceof an action packed movie.
