New Delhi:

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday questioned the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) over the mention of his name in the FIR registered against DCW chief Swati Maliwal on charges of irregularities in recruitment in the women’s panel.

“My role has not been mentioned even once in the FIR. Don't know why my name is in the FIR. What is my role in this?” asked the Delhi CM.

Blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kejriwal said that his name in the FIR has been mentioned on instructions of the PM.
“CM ka naam aise hi toh nhi aa jata FIR mei; PM ke consent ke bina CM ka naam nhi aata, zahir hai ki PM ke ishaare pe ki gayi hai,” he said.

“Special Vidhan Sabha session will be called in few days to discuss the plot behind the FIR in detail,” he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Delhi BJP sought the removal of Maliwal, who has been booked by the ACB. A delegation of Delhi BJP office-bearers led by party president Satish Upadhyay submitted a memorandum to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, demanding dissolution of the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) and removal of Maliwal as its head.

The delegation included BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri, party legislators O P Sharma, Jagdish Pradhan and other leaders Ashish Sood and Rekha Gupta. On Tuesday, Maliwal said the FIR will “not act as a deterrent” for her even as Delhi minister Satyendra Jain came out in support of her.

She said the FIR will not act as a deterrent for her and the panel will continue to work and raise questions which is “disturbing her opponents the most”.

“Even if I am sent to jail, I will prepare a report on the condition of women there and submit it to the Delhi government. The Delhi government and the Centre are working together towards ensuring safety of women,” she said.
