Incessant rains have paralysed life in Mumbai and Hyderabad even as India Meteorological Department predicts that heavy showers will continue for at least next 24 hours. 

In Telangana, a holiday has been declared for all educational institutional for Friday and Saturday in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts due to heavy rains. 

The authorities have closed down Mumbai-Goa highway following waterlogging caused by heavy rains in coastal Konkan region, traffic will be diverted.

In its forecast for Mumbai and suburban areas, the IMD predicted intermittent or continuous rain or showers with few heavy spells beginning from 10 am on September 21 progressing to very heavy rains during the next 24 to 48 hours, joint secretary of the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), Rajiv Nivatkar said.

“Exceptionally heavy rains are expected in the city from the morning of September 23," he said.

In Hyderabad, a flood like situation has forced the state government to seek the help of Indian Army and NDRF to keep the situation under control and cut down any damage to property and life.
