Goddess Durga, also known as Maa Bramhacharini, is usually worshipped on the second day of Navratra but due to the star condition this year, the Navratras will be celebrated for 10 days instead of nine, hence Maa Bramhacharini is being worshipped on third day this year. These Navratras are considered very auspicious. 

The story of Maa Bramhacharini’s origin is that when Goddess Parvati was born in the home of Daksha Prajapati she became a great Sati later and her unmarried form is Goddess Bramhacharini.

It is said that Goddess Brahmacharini did severe penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband. She performed hard austerity and due to which she was called Brahmacharini.

Brahmcharini means Tapa Charini – The one who perform Tapa or penance. Mata Bhramacharni is known for knowledge and wisdom. Rudraksha is her most adorned ornament.

Food offering: Sugar is offered to Goddess Brahmacharini.
