Virat Kohli played a magnificent innings on the first day of the Indore test between India and New Zealand. The Indian skipper took Cheteshwar Pujara's (41) good work ahead with his thirteenth test century. Further, he formed a strong partnership with Ajinkya Rahane (79 not out) to put India on a strong position.
Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss on Saturday as the third test began at Indore's Holkar stadium. Although India lost its first wicket as Murali Vijay (10) fell cheaply, comeback man Gautam Gambhir (29) and Cheteshwar Pujara took the fight to the opposition camp.
India has played brilliantly in this series and will like to complete a clean sweep against the Kiwis.
Gautam Gambhir played a test match after a gap of two years and showed good form while tackling the New Zealand bowlers. In his brief innings, he even pulled Matt Henry for two successive sixes in the fourth over of the first innings.
The Indian team has played tremendously well in the first two test matches. Whereas the batsmen have quietly done their job, the bowlers, led by spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have completely choked New Zealand. Further, the Indian fast bowlers showed some majestic form in the second Test match at Eden Gardens.
New Zealand, who have competed well in phases against the rampaging home team so far, have an unenviable task of stopping the Virat Kohli-led side from notching up their 12th win at home from 14 encounters.
