New Delhi:

Amid intelligence inputs about possible terror attacks, a contingent of anti-terror commandoes from National Security Guard (NSG) has been deployed at the Red Fort in New Delhi. The Old Delhi area has always been considered sensitive.

“The deployment has been made in order to cut down travel time of the NSG commandos as it would take at least two to three hours to reach the Old Delhi area from the force’s headquarters in Manesar. The New Delhi areas are catered by the force’s deployment at Palam in Delhi,” said a home ministry official, on condition of anonymity.

According to the officer, a general alert has been in place following Indian Army’s surgical strikes across the LoC on the intervening night September 28 and 29. Also, security forces remain on high alert during festive season, he added.
