New Delhi:

A music video produced on the occasion of Chhath Puja is making waves on the internet and social media platforms through showcasing the fact that how urban Biharis are going away from the tradition of the four-day festival due to their busy schedules and fast-pace lifestyle.

The video that also comes with a playback by noted singer Sharadha Sinha doesn't fail to create nostalgia among people of Bihar and is pulling everyone to come home on the Mahaparv.

Nitin Chandra, the director of the video has proved his forte by aptly capturing the significance of the festival. The video also features Bollywood actor Kranti Prakash Jha who, in an exclusive interview with News Nation, said regardless of circumstances people should not forget their culture and their roots.

Excerpts:

What made your team produce this video?

All the credit goes to the crew, especially Nitin Chandra, his brain was behind the project. Chandra conceptualised the idea which was backed by Dr Sharadha Sinha's mastery in singing Bhojpuri folk songs. Her son also played an important part in the overall success of the video.

What inspired you, from where did this idea derive?

Since Nitin is an old friend of mine, I couldn't refuse his offer to feature in the video.

Do you think that the younger generation doesn't have any inclination towards their culture?

Yes, it's a fact and even I was away from home. I do feel that the connection is missing and it should not be the case. As Peshwa's story somehow has a connection to it. I have seen that Biharis who stay away from their home find it hard to make a contribution when they come back. So I would like to appeal to the people that it's not about contributions. It is about meeting your family and dear ones at least once a year and spend quality time with them.

How was your experience on working with Shardha Sinha?

I am lucky to have an association with Shardha Sinha who has left an impregnable mark in the field of Bhojpuri folk music.

What message you really want to convey on Chhath Puja?

People should stay connected to their roots and culture. Bihar has a glorious history and legacy to carry forward. It is known to the world that Bihar was the land where Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment and the great Mauryan king Chandragupta Maurya ruled from Patliputra (Patna). However, the video also brings to light the fact that Biharis not only worship Sun God at sunrise but also at sunset.
