India lost its openers Murali Vijay and KL Rahul early after beginning its 2nd innings with a huge lead of 200 runs. Stuart Broad bowled a probing line and gave England early breakthroughs.
Earlier, Indian bowlers, led by Ravichandran Ashwin exploited the turn and bounce offered by the pitch to seize initiative in the match.
Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow had counterattacked the Indian bowlers since the beginning of Day 3 to form a century partnership.
In the process, both the players had completed half centuries and taken their team's total close to the 200 run mark.
England were in a perilous situation as Indian spinners completley dominated them on the second day of the match.
