Demonetisation: SC to hear Centre's plea on November 23

New Delhi:

Supreme Court has agreed to hear Centre's plea seeking transfer of all cases related to the demonetisation move either to apex court or any one high court on November 23.

The Supreme Court on Thursday nodded to hear a fresh plea of the Centre seeking a stay on proceeding before various high courts and other courts, apart from the apex court on demonetisation of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes.

Since November 8, various petitions have been filed in courts seeking stay on demonetisation move.

In apex court, four PILs have been registered, two were filed by Delhi-based lawyers Vivek Narayan Sharma and Sangam Lal Pandey, while two others were filed by individuals, S Muthukumar and Adil Alvi.

The petitioners had said the sudden decision on demonetisation has created chaos and harassment to public at large and the notification of the department of economic affairs, ministry of finance be either quashed or deferred for some time.
