Madrid:

Spanish giants Real Madrid has ended a run of two successive defeats following an emphatic 5-0 win over Rayo Vallecano in the La Liga at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.

Welsh forward Gareth Bale scored twice, taking his tally to12 La Liga goals and 12 assists and 15 goals in 34 games in all competitions while Carlo Ancelotti's side moved onto 73 points although they remain third, two points behind Barcelona and three adrift of leaders Atletico Madrid.

According to the BBC, Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring for his 44th goal of the season, following which right-back Dani Carvajal side-footed in a second from Ronaldo's lay-off before 85 million-pound summer signing Bale tapped in twice.

After the former Tottenham Hotspur player scored a fine solo effort, Alvaro Morata curled in an impressive fifth, leading Real to a well-deserved victory in the game, the report added.
