Everything surrounding US President Barack Obama is secure – from his car to his handheld device. Here we are talking about the smartphone which the President uses – a custom-made BlackBerry.
No matter how luxurious life you live, being a President of a world super-power can keep you away from the luxury of using a high-tech new-gen smartphone. Obama, who has been using a BlackBerry even before being elected as the US President in 2008, still uses the same smartphone but with a difference.
Obama, who is quite fond of Apple iPhone, has no choice than using government-issued BlackBerry. According to experts, Obama’s BlackBerry has the following features:
Reverse engineering: Retired National Security Agency (NSA) director, Richard ‘Dickie’ George says NSA had chosen the smartphone model for Obama. The smartphone underwent some reverse engineering, making it immune to both internal and external security attacks and potential threats. The device was manipulated by a number of experts in a separate lab set up by the NSA.
No front camera: Front camera is missing from Obama’s special phone, so he can’t even post selfies!
No games: Obama can’t even play games on his smartphone.
No chat apps: Obama cannot even use messaging services and popular apps such as WhatsApp and Hike.
10 contacts only: Obama’s can make calls to only 10 phone numbers from his BlackBerry. The contacts include his close family members and the Vice President. Moreover, the ten numbers and the one Obama uses, have similar encryption features.
SecurVoice application: The Genesis Key and BlackBerry engineers’ developed SecurVoice application has been installed in Obama’s phone which features two levels of security – Phone to Phone and Phone to Server.
