New Delhi:

The Nepal earthquake tragedy hit the entire country on the gloomy morning of April 25 leaving more than 3000 dead and injuring around 7000. It left several cultural heritage cites disintegrated and destroyed. However, the land of temples saw Lord Pashupatinath temple standing high and strong. Do you know why?

In fact, after the earthquake reports many were seen comparing the Nepal Earthquake disaster with Kedarnath tragedy of 2013.

The Uttarakhand tragedy saw millions displaced. The blow with which Kedarnath received the direct hit was also shocking, however, the temple just like Pashupatinath stood mighty and strong.

Well, mythology has a role to play here! According to legends, both Kedarnath and Pashupatinath are related, thus no harm came to both the temples inspite being hit so hard by tragedies in India and Nepal respectively.

The legend states that Lord Shiva turned into a bull while being chased by Bhima- the pandava. He then buried himself under the ground at Kedarnath which is located in Uttarakhand, India. However, he was pulled back by Bhima, it was then that Lord Shiva turned into a Linga. While his hind stayed in Kedarnath, his head part emerged in Pashupatinath, Nepal.

Therefore, the link ups have emerged up between Kedarnath and Pashupatinath with many believing that the God has saved both the famous structures from turning into dust.

Notably, Lord Shiva has been a revered god in many Hindu countries including India and Nepal.
