New Delhi :

Aam Aadmi Party national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who failed to file his nomination for the February 8 Delhi Assembly elections on Monday, filed his poll papers on Tuesday after a wait of around seven hours. AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said that around 35 candidates were sitting at the Returning Officer’s office for filling papers. Bharadwaj alleged that they were not allowing Kejriwal to file his nomination. The AAP leader claimed that the BJP was behind these candidates, who came without proper nomination papers just to stop Kejriwal from filing his nomination.

"Around 35 candidates are sitting at RO office without proper nomination papers, even without names of 10 proposers. They're insisting unless their papers are complete and file nomination, they won't allow CM Kejriwal to file nomination. BJP is behind these people," Bharadwaj said.

Reacting to the development, Kejriwal's deputy Manish Sisodia also hit out at the BJP for hatching a conspiracy to delay the nomination filing of the chief minister and said that no matter the conspiracies, the saffron party won't be able to stop Kejriwal from returning to power.

"Whatever intrigue the BJP do! They won't be able to stop Arvind Kejriwal from filing nomination and from becoming the Chief Minister of Delhi for the third time. Your plans will not succeed," the Delhi deputy CM said in Hindi.

The Delhi chief minister was earlier supposed to file his nomination papers on Monday but postponed till Tuesday owing to the delay in the rally. The 'Walk With Kejriwal' roadshow was to be followed by the Delhi CM going to Jamnagar House to file his nomination papers, but owing to the delay in the rally, he was unable to reach the SDM office in time. Kejriwal had said the nomination will now be filed on Tuesday, which is also the last day for the filing of nomination for the February 8 polls in Delhi.
