The Congress Is Seeking To Better Its Performance Than Last Time When It Did Not Bag Any Seat In The Assembly Polls But Improved Its Vote Share In 2019 Polls.

Exit polls for the Delhi assembly election on Saturday forecast a comfortable victory for the ruling Aam Aadmi Party despite a likely rise in tally for the BJP in the 70-member House. The Times Now-Ipsos exit polls predicted that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will retain his chair with the AAP winning 44 seats against 26 for the BJP.

The Republic-Jan ki Baat survey gave the AAP 48-61 seats and the BJP 9-21 seats. The TV9 Bharatvarsh-Cicero predicted 54 seats for the AAP, 15 for the BJP and one for the Congress.

The exit polls predicted little improvement in the fortunes of the Congress which could not bag any seat in the 2015 polls. The AAP had scored an overwhelming victory in the 2015 polls, winning 67 seats and reducing the BJP to three.

Vote percentage in 10 Assembly seats of South Delhi Lok Sabha constituency according to ABP exit poll: AAP-  46%, BJP-   34%, INC-  13%. 

According to the ABP exit poll, AAP will win 8-10 seats in Northwest Delhi and BJP will win 0-2 seats. 

Poll of Exit Polls - AAP likely to win 50-52 seats, BJP+ likely to improve its tally and may win 17-18 seats, Congress+ apparently once again failed to impress voters in Delhi and have to satisfy with 0-1 seat.

63.5 per cent voting was recorded till 5 pm in 2015.

There are 13,750 polling booths, besides one auxiliary booth, located at 2,689 locations across Delhi.

Over 1.47 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise to elect a new government, with 672 candidates in the fray.

The Congress got just 10 per cent of votes in 2015 but it increased to 21 per cent in 2017 and 23 per cent in 2019.

This further dipped to 18 per cent in the Lok Sabha polls in 2019 when it couldn’t even open its account.

The AAP got 54 per cent votes in the 2015 polls but it dipped to 26 per cent in the municipal elections in 2017.

The BJP mounted its one of the most aggressive campaigns in the Delhi Assembly polls so far, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah leading the saffron charge fuelled by its planks of Hindutva and nationalism and its strident opposition to anti-CAA protest in Shaheen Bagh.

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party is going into the Delhi election with the hope to repeat its stellar performance of the last assembly polls.

Delhi Police and paramilitary personnel conduct flag marches in sensitive areas in northeast and east Delhi during polling.

52.91 per cent voter turn out reported in Delhi by 5 PM.
