Delhi Assembly Elections 2020 – Burari Constituency: AAP's Burari candidate Sanjeev Jha trounced his nearest rival by over 88,000 votes on Tuesday, the biggest victory margin in the Delhi Assembly polls. Counting of the votes for the Delhi Assembly elections 2020 began at 8 am. The voting for all 70-seats of Delhi's Legislative Assembly elections was held on Saturday.
Delhi witnessed a three-cornered contest between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. In the North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, it consists of 10 Vidhan Sabha segments or seats including Karawal Nagar, Ghonda, Seelampur, Seemapuri, Burari, Timarpur, Mustafabad, Rohtas Nagar, Gokalpur, and Babarpur.
It is to be noted that Burari Assembly seat has an estimated Caste population of 14.7 per cent. The estimated literacy level of the district in which this constituency falls in is 86.9 per cent.
In the 2020 elections, in the Burari Assembly, there were a total of 3,61,583 eligible electors, of which 2,01,327 were male, 1,60,243 female and 13 voters of the third gender. The electorate gender ratio in Burari in 2020 is 795.93. Among the first-time voters in 2020 in Burari, there are a total of 6423 voters in the 18-19 years age group.
In the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP'S Sanjeev Jha won this seat by defeating Gopal Jha of BJP.
In 2013, AAP'S Sanjeev Jha won this seat defeating Shri Krishan of BJP.
In the 2008 Assembly elections, BJP's Shri Krishan won this seat defeating Deepak Tyagi of Congress.
