On the eve of Delhi Assembly elections, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and state BJP president Manoj Tiwari visited temples in the national capital. While Kejriwal offered prayers at Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place, BJP’s Manoj Tiwari visited the Kalkaji Temple. The temple hopping of top BJP and AAP leaders has come a day ahead of Assembly elections in Delhi on February 8.
While the BJP has always accepted its Hindutva ideology, Arvind Kejriwal too has claimed to be a devotee of Lord Hanuman ahead of the polls. In an interview to a private news channel, Kejriwal had even recited the 'Hanuman Chalisa' and said that couplets in the praise of Lord Hanuman gives him peace. He also termed BJP leaders "fake Hindus" and challenged them to recite the 'Hanuman Chalisa'.

The campaign for the February 8 Delhi Assembly elections, which was often divisive and vitriolic, had ended on Thursday. The electioneering in Delhi was marked by the BJP aggressively raising the anti-CAA protests in Shaheen Bagh as a poll issue, the AAP hardselling development and the Congress conspicuous by its near absence.
In their final campaign push, the three key parties made last ditch efforts to seek votes and slugged it out over issues ranging from the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, appeasement politics and unemployment. There are 672 candidates in fray for 70 Assembly seats.
Over 1.47 crore total voters in various categories include males (81,05,236), females (66,80,277), service voters (11,608), third gender voters (869), and senior citizens (aged 80 and above) voters (2,04,830), according to Delhi CEO Office.
