New Delhi :

Just ahead of Delhi Assembly elections, the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has slapped Rs 500 crore defamation notice on the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for tweeting Manoj Tiwari’s edited video showing him dancing to the tune of AAP’s poll theme song 'Lage Raho Kejriwal'. The video which shows BJP’s Delhi chief dancing to the tune is apparently an edited version of his Bhojpuri albums. Manoj Tiwari has termed this a violation of intellectual property rights and asked, “Who gave AAP the right to use my videos for its theme song for the polls.”.

The singer-turned-politician claimed that Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is 'baffled' by the prospects of his party’s defeat in the assembly polls, scheduled on February 8.

The BJP said a complaint has been made to the Election Commission of India (ECI) about the video, and Rs 500 crore has been sought as damages for defamation and violations of intellectual property rights.

Delhi BJP’s media relations head Neelkant Bakshi said the use of Tiwari’s face in election campaign by AAP shows he is more popular than Kejriwal. No reaction was immediately available from AAP.

Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia launched on Saturday the campaign theme song "Lage Raho Kejriwal" for the February 8 Assembly polls. It has been composed by Vishal Dadlani who had also lent his musical talent to the 2015 campaign song "5 Saal Kejriwal"

The 2.52-minute song by Dadlani, was on the lines of party''s slogan for the Delhi Assembly elections: "Acche Beete Paanch Saal - Lage Raho Kejriwal".

“The theme song showcases the sentiments of the people of Delhi about Arvind Kejriwal and also the key achievements of the AAP government in Delhi,” Sisodia said.
