New Delhi:

Counting of votes in Delhi Assembly Election 2020 has begun. East Delhi Lok Sabha seat comprises of 10 assembly constituencies -- Jangpura, Okhla, Trilokpuri, Kondli, Patparganj, Laxmi Nagar, Vishwas Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Gandhi Nagar and Shahdara. In East Delhi, a turnout of 56.08 per cent was recorded. In East Delhi’s Trilokpuri (SC) a turnout of 43.22 per cent was recorded while in Kondli (SC), a turnout of 60.84 per cent recorded. In Partparganj, a turnout of 56.11 per cent was recorded while in Laxmi Nagar the turnout was 54.95 per cent. In Krishna Nagar, a turnout of 62.51 per cent was recorded while in Gandhi Nagar the turnout was 58.91 per cent.

The counting for 70 assembly seats begins. 

Polling was held on February 8, sealing the fate of 672 candidates -- 593 men and 79 women.

What The Exit Polls Predicted:


  • The India Today-Axis poll forecast 59-68 seats for the AAP and 2-11 for the BJP

  • ABP-CVoter put the Delhi's ruling party's tally at anywhere between 49 and 63 and that of BJP between five to 19.

  • Times Now-Ipsos exit poll predicted that Kejriwal will retain power with the AAP winning 47 seats against 23 for the BJP.

  • Republic-Jan ki Baat survey gave the AAP 48-61 seats and the BJP 9-21 seats.

In 2015, the AAP and the BJP had won 67 and three seats respectively in the 70-seat Assembly. Their corresponding vote share was 54.3 and 32.3 per cent. The Congress drew a blank.

In Krishna Nagar, a turnout of 62.51 per cent was recorded while in Gandhi Nagar the turnout was 58.91 per cent.

In Kondli (SC), a turnout of 60.84 per cent recorded. In Partparganj, a turnout of 56.11 per cent was recorded while in Laxmi Nagar the turnout was 54.95 per cent.

In East Delhi’s Trilokpuri (SC) a turnout of 43.22 per cent was recorded.

In East Delhi, a turnout of 56.08 per cent was recorded on the voting day.
