New Delhi:

The war of words between the Aam Aadmi party and the BJP intensified on Monday with Union Minister Prakash Javadekar saying that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is a terrorist and the government has proof to support its claim. The ruling AAP shot back and dared the Centre to arrest Kejriwal. Javadekar said that Kejriwal had called himself an "anarchist" and there is not much of a "difference between an anarchist and a terrorist". His remarks come a few days after the Election Commission (EC) issued a show cause notice to BJP MP Parvesh Verma for allegedly calling Kejriwal a "terrorist".

"Kejriwal is now asking with a sad face, 'am I a terrorist?' You are a terrorist and there is a lot of evidence to prove that. You yourself had said you are an anarchist. There is not much difference between an anarchist and a terrorist," the senior BJP leader said at a press conference.

Javadekar also raked up the issue of Kejriwal "staying a night at the Moga residence of Khalistani commander Gurinder Singh during the Punjab Assembly polls". "You knew it was a militant's house. Still, you stayed there. How much more evidence do you need?" he said.

AAP’s Rajya Sabha lawmaker Sanjay Singh attacked the BJP saying, “This is happening in the Capital of our country where the Central government is sitting, the Election Commission is present. How can a central minister be permitted to use such language? If Arvind Kejriwal is a terrorist, I challenge BJP to arrest him.”

After Parvesh Verma’s jibe, Kejriwal had held a presser where he had said that it’s up to people of Delhi whether they consider him their son, brother, or a terrorist. "I have put my life on the line for the country," he said. He also said he went on a hunger strike against corruption despite being diabetic. "I'm a diabetic. I take insulin four times a day. If a person with diabetes is on insulin and doesn't eat anything for three to four hours, they collapse and can even die. In such a situation, I have done hunger strike against corruption twice, once for 15 days and then 10 days," he said.

There are reports that the AAP is likely to move the Election Commission over Javadekar’s statement. The AAP is likely to release its election manifesto on Tuesday, party leader Sanjay Singh has said. In the last three days of election campaigning, AAP will intensify its campaign through 500 members of its frontal organisations. "In the next three days, 15,000 meetings will be held. In the last phase, we would use the slogan 'acche honge paanch saal - Delhi mein toh Kejriwal' (five years will go well - Kejriwal should be there in Delhi)," Singh said on Monday.
