New Delhi:

BJP lawmaker Parvesh Verma has landed himself amid controversy again as he linked the Shaheen Bagh protests with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) while appealing to the ‘desh bhakt’ voters (Delhiites) to opt for the BJP over Kejriwal-led party on Saturday. Earlier in the day, Verma posted a video in which can be heard saying that Shaheen Bagh is indebted to AAP for Biryani and in lieu of that, they are being voted.

“People belonging to a certain community from Shaheen Bagh, Seelampur and Jamia Millia are standing in long queues to claim that they will vote for AAP. Why would they not? Aam Aadmi Party has been arranging them biryani for more than a month”, Pravesh Verma tweeted.

This is not the first time when Verma has stirred controversy, as recently he was barred for holding public meetings, campaigning by Election Commission (EC) in the polls for making statements against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

The West Delhi MP had said what happened in Kashmir with Kashmiri Pandits could happen in Delhi, warning that lakhs of anti-CAA protesters in Shaheen Bagh could enter homes to rape and kill women.

Verma was barred from campaigning for 96 hours (four days) for his interview in which he made remarks on Shaheen Bagh and a statement on removing mosques at an election meeting in Vikas Puri on January 28.

Moreover, this evening, most of the exit polls predicted a hat-trick for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with AAP set to register a big victory in the Assembly Elections.

Times Now-Ipsos exit polls predicted that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will retain his chair with the AAP winning 44 seats against 26 for the BJP. Republic-Jan ki Baat survey gave the AAP 48-61 seats and the BJP 9-21 seats.
