In a sensational claim, miffed former Haryana Congress chief Ashok Tanwar said the ticket for the Sohna assembly seat in the state for the upcoming assembly elections was sold for Rs 5 crore.

“The ticket for Sohna assembly seat was sold for Rs 5 crore. We will fix the situation. If the ticket distribution has been unfair then how those who have been chosen will win?” he said.

Tanwar held a protest outside the Congress headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday. Tanwar said that "those who have worked for the party in last five years are ignored in ticket distribution. The persons who have worked against the party are considered by former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda."

"For five years, I gave my blood and sweat for the Congress. The leadership in Haryana has been destroyed. We've been dedicated to the party. Why give tickets to those who've recently joined and criticised the Congress earlier?” Tanwar said at a gathering.

As many as 10 leaders from different parties have been offered tickets by the Hooda camp to sway Tanwar''s supporters, said a leader.

“I was in ticket distribution process so I know, 'yeh sarkar banvayi gayi thi, bani nahi thi'. 14 people who are BJP MLAs today were sent away from here, seven of their MPs have Congress background. The BJP offered me to join six times in three months, I didn't go and never will,” Tanwar said.
