Assembly Elections 2019: BJP will meet Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya to stake the claim to form the next government in Haryana on Saturday. The BJP legislative party will meet to elect their leader. Manohar Lal Khattar is expected to be re-elected in the meeting. 

BJP, who won 40 out of 90 seats in Haryana assembly elections this year, fell six short of the majority figure. However, a total of nine MLAs including seven Independents have now extended their written support to the party for the formation of new government. 

Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhay Chautala also extended his support to BJP.  He is the sole elected member from his party. Earlier, Haryana Lokhit Party leader Gopal Kanda and seven Independent MLAs - Sombir Sangwan, Randhir Singh Gollen, Dharam Pal Gonder, Balraj Kundu, Nanyan Pal Rawat, Ranjit Singh, and Rakesh Daultabad - also extended their support.

Meanwhile, Dushyant Chautala has been elected the leader of Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) legislative party, Amarjeet Dhanda was chosen the chief whip while Eshwar Singh was elected as the deputy leader at first meeting of the newly elected MLAs on Friday.

BJP President Amit Shah Addresses Media After Meeting Dushyant Chautala 

JJP leader Dushyant Chautala is likely to be made Haryana deputy chief minister in the BJP-led government, which is set to take oath in a few days, sources said.

Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to meet JJP chief Dushyant Chautala on Friday night as the BJP looks to seek the latter’s party support to form the government in Haryana, according to the reports. 

BJP national working president JP Nadda, General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh and other leaders of the party arrive at the residence of Union Home Minister and BJP President Amit Shah.

Dushyant ji stated a few points in his press conference. As far as Common Min Prog is concerned, it's already provided in our manifesto-be it old age pension or 75% job reservation for Haryanvis.If he has other suggestions, we're open to that. Now it's upto him: BS Hooda 

Shiv Sena has also taken a veiled dig at BJP for taking support from Gopal Kanda. Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedia tweeted, "Women are near 50% of India’s population, they have been coming out in large numbers to vote, women are stakeholders in parties that come to power. If we disregard their sentiments & sacrifice it at the altar of politics & power, there’s a price that will have to be paid in due course."



Eighty-four of the 90 newly elected Haryana MLAs are crorepatis, according to an analysis by poll watchdog Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). In the outgoing assembly, 75 of the 90 MLAs possessed assets worth more than Rs 1 crore, which means the number of crorepati legislators has increased by 10 per cent, the ADR report said. The average of assets per sitting MLA in Haryana is Rs 18.29 crore, while it was Rs 12.97 crore in 2014, it said. According to the ADR analysis, 37 of the 40 BJP MLAs and 29 of the 31 Congress legislators are crorepatis. The 10 MLAs of the Jannayak Janata Party of Dushyant Chautala are the wealthiest with their average assets being worth Rs 25.26 crore.

Sushmit Dev Writes To Amit Shah

Congress leader Sushmita Dev has written a letter addressed to BJP president Amit Shah asking what happened to the 'Beti Bachao' campaign now that they are seeking Gopal Kanda's help in Haryana.


Dev wrote, "Gopal Kanda has been accused of rape, abetment of suicide, hatching a criminal conspiracy in connection with the suicide case. Forging an alliance with a criminal like him raises a question on BJP's resolution of providing security to women."



BJP To Stake Claim Tomorrow

BJP will stake the claim to form the government in the state on Saturday after the legislative party meeting. Haryana BJP MLAs will on Friday to elect their leader. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman and Arun Singh will be present as observers in the meeting, expected start at 11 AM in Chandigarh. After the meeting, the elected leader of the legislative party will meet the Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya to stake claim to form the government.

Uma Bharti Tweets Against Gopal Kanda

In a series of tweets, senior BJP leader Uma Bharti has warned her party against taking support from rape accused leader Gopal Kanda in Haryana.


"I have received information that we may get the support of an independent MLA named Gopal Kanda. I have something to say on this," she said.


"This is the same Gopal Kanda because of whom a girl committed suicide and then her mother committed suicide after not getting justice, the case is still pending in court, and this person is out on bail. Whether Gopal Kanda is innocent or criminal, the law will decided on the basis of evidence, but winning this election does not acquit him of his crimes. There are many factors in winning an election," she said.

Sardar Nishant Singh, Haryana JJP president: "We have invitation from both the sides. We'll take our decision only after discussing with our elected candidates. If there is no clear majority for BJP, obviously the mandate is against them. We will decide our stand after the meeting."




Congress leader Deepender Singh Hooda said people are going thrash with shoes those Independent MLAs who are going to be a part of the Khattar government.


He said, "Independent MLAs who are going to be a part of the Khattar government are digging their own political grave. They are selling the trust of people. People of Haryana will never forgive those who do so. People will thrash them with shoes."

JJP Press Conference At 4 PM

The Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) will hold a press conference at 4 PM today. Meanwhile, sources are saying that BJP is expected to get support of at least 4 independent MLAs.

Independent MLAs Taken To Delhi By BJP MP

Haryana got a fractured mandate, resulting in a hung Assembly, with the BJP winning 40 seats, Congress 31, JJP 10, Independents 8 and INLD one. The eight Independent MLAs are likely to play a key role in the formation of the next government. 


Two of the eight Independent candidates, who registered a victory in the Haryana Assembly polls on Thursday, were taken to Delhi by a BJP MP, sources said. Independents Gopal Kanda and Ranjeet Singh were taken to Delhi by a chartered plane by Sirsa MP Sunita Duggal.

Uddhav To Address Shiv Sena MLAs

In Maharashtra, BJP will keep a close watch as Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will address his party MLAs at 4 PM on Friday. On Thursday, when asked by reporters which party will get the chief minister's post, Thackeray had said, "It is time to remind the BJP about the formula arrived at when BJP chief Amit Shah visited my home....we had decided on a fifty-fifty formula for the alliance."

Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) leader Dushyant Chautala will meet his 10 MLAs in Delhi on Friday. They are expected to decide which party to support in order to form the next government in Haryana.
