Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election Results 2018: The Congress party has made a strong comeback in Madhya Pradesh after 15 long years. The Election Commission has finally decalred the results for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections and the Congress party has won 114 seats in the Assembly. The BJP is a close second with 109 seats. The majority mark in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly is 116. The Congress is short of a majority mark by just 2 seats. The Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has won 2 seats in the Assembly, while the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) has won a single seat. Four Independent candidates have also reached the Assembly. The Congress will form the government in the state and has already staked its claim. The BSP and the SP have already extended their support to the Congress in order to stop the BJP. Outgoing Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has won his Budhni seat. He has been the chief minister of the state since 2005. The Congress is likely to choose its chief ministerial nominee soon. Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia are the frontrunners for the position of chief minister in the state. However, the BJP is still the biggest party in the state in terms of the vote share. The party has got 41 per cent of the popular votes and has received the support of 15,642,980 voters, while the Congress party has got 40.9 per cent of the popular votes and has received the support of 15,595,153 voters. The single-phase Madhya Pradesh election to 230-member strong Assembly was held on November 28. The counting of votes in Madhya Pradesh along with Rajasthan, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh and Telangana started at 8 am on December 11. Let us take a look at the complete list of winning candidates in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
