The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday released party's manifesto for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Polling for all 288 Assembly seats in the state will be held on October 21 and counting of votes will take place on October 24. The manifesto was released by BJP working president JP Nadda and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis.
Nadda while releasing manifesto said, "the manifesto has been made keeping in focus the man standing at the last pedestal of the society. We are committed to bringing the poor, villages, farmers, tribals and other backward classes into the mainstream. This Sankalp Patra is a very well-studied & serious document and not just a piece of paper. I can also say that Congress and other parties have diluted the effect of manifestos and other such papers. The manifesto has been made keeping in focus the man standing at the last pedestal of the society. We are committed to bringing the poor, villages, farmers, tribals and other backward classes into the mainstream."
Among various promises the BJP has made: assisting one crore families for employment, providing clean drinking water to all households by 2022, creation of an autonomous body to oversee road construction, investment of Rs 5 lakh crore in infrastructure projects, Krishna will carry excess water flowing in Koyna and other rivers to the permanent dry part of western Maharashtra and more than 12 hours of electricity to farmers.
Earlier in the day, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLC Ramrao Wadkute and former party MLA Bappu Pathare joined the BJP Wadkute, a prominent Dhangar (shepherd) community leader from Marathwada region, was appointed member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council in June 2014 from the governor’s quota.
He submitted his resignation on Monday evening to Legislative Council Chairman Ramraje Nimbalkar who immediately accepted it. Pathare is a former MLA from Pune. Both Wadkute and Pathare were inducted into the BJP in Mumbai on Tuesday in the presence of the party’s working president J P Nadda.
