Mumbai:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Maharashtra today to campaign for upcoming Assembly Elections seeking a fresh term for the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in the state. He is scheduled to address two rallies - Jalgaon and Sakoli. PM Modi tweeted about his rallies and said he would seek five more years for the BJP.
“Will be campaigning in Maharashtra tomorrow. Looking forward to addressing rallies in Jalgaon and Sakoli. The NDA is going to the people based on the stellar work of our Government led by the youthful and visionary CM @Dev_Fadnavis Ji. We seek five more years to serve the state,” PM Modi tweeted.
Meanwhile, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi too will address three rallies in the poll-bound state. He is scheduled to address two rallies in Mumbai’s Dharavi and Chandivali. After that, he will also address a rally in Ausa (Latur).
The ruling BJP-Shiv Sena coalition, which also includes other small parties, is in direct contest with the Congress-NCP alliance.
The BJP and the Sena had contested the 2014 Maharashtra Assembly polls separately but had later come together to form the government in the state. The BJP had emerged as the single-largest party in the 2014 polls with 122 seats, followed by the Sena with 63 in the 288-member House.
The Assembly Election in Maharashtra is scheduled to be held on October 21 and the counting will be held on October 24.
