Taunting the BJP, Sanjay Raut said that the party without majority shouldn’t dream about forming government.

New Delhi:

Amid ongoing tussle over Maharashtra government formation, senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Friday reiterated that the Chief Minister of the state will be from his part only. However, he added that there was no such ‘ultimatum’ to ally BJP. He said that if party president Uddhav Thackeray has said that Maharashtra Chief Minister will be from Shiv Sena, then it will be so. Taunting the BJP, Raut said that the party without majority shouldn’t dream about forming government. He added that is Shiv Sena wants, it can form the government on its own.

“If Shiv Sena decides, it'll get the required numbers to form stable government in the state. People have given mandate to form government on basis of 50-50 formula that was reached in front of people of Maharashtra. They want Chief Minister from Shiv Sena,” Raut added. ‘Saahib….mat paaliye, ahankaar ko itna, waqt ke saagar mein kayi, Sikandar doob gaye,’ Raut also tweeted a couplet in a major hint to the BJP.

On Thursday, Raut had met NCP chief Sharad Pawar at his residence. Raut confirmed after the meeting that the politics in Maharashtra were discussed between the two leaders. "Met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar at his residence today. I had come to wish him on the occasion of Diwali. We also discussed the politics in Maharashtra," the Shiv Sena MP said.  Sena has asked the BJP to follow the '50:50 power-sharing formula', claiming that it had been agreed to before the 2019 Lok Sabha election. However, Chief Minister Fadnavis has said that there was no agreement on the 50:50 formula.

While Sena is seeking the chief minister’s post, the BJP has said that it would not compromise on the top executive job in the state. The meeting comes hours after Raut described as rumours reports that his party has softened its stand on the issue of sharing power in Maharashtra with ruling alliance partner BJP.

Raut described reports in a section of media alluding to the ‘softening of stand’ by the Sena as hearsay.
