New Delhi:

With Assembly elections in Rajasthan just two days away the political temperature is soaring high across the poll-bound state. Addressing a series of public meeting on the last day of campaigning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday took a swipe at Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, terming the grand old party the "architect of corruption". The prime minister was referring to a series of contentious facts which came to light in the form of AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam and the National Herald case over the last couple of days.

"During the UPA's rule, AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam took place. After we came to power at the Centre, the investigation was conducted into the matter. One person (Christian Michel) from Dubai has been found involved in the case. Now 'Rajdaar' will reveal all secrets. We don't know how far this issue will go," Modi said during his speech at Sumerpur in Rajasthan's Pali district.

Hitting out at the Congress chief and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for their alleged involvement in the National Herald case, Modi further said, " We won in the Supreme Court on Tuesday. The top court said that the Central government has the right to reassess the income tax returns of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi".

Replying to Gandhi's jibe at his family background, the prime minister said, "No one had ever though that a 'chaiwala' will bring down a party that ruld for four generations in the country. I have taken them to the court and they had to seek bail in the cases related to their acts of corruption".

Accusing the Congress of doing 'very little' for the poor, he further said, "I was not born with a silver spoon. I have seen poverty. After coming to power, KI believe that there is no reason for India to be poor after so many years of independence".

"Only one family is the reason for our poverty. They were only interested in power. How the Congress, which created so many divisions in the society in the last 70 years, can work for the people?" Modi asked further.

"First they sould give the account of these 70 years. Only then they should ask for the account of our 4.5 years," Modi added.

Showing confidence over the BJP's victory in Rajasthan, he claimed, "Wherever I travelled and met the people in the state, I have felt that they have decided to elect our party once again. People of Rajasthan have decided. Now our work is to win every polling booth. I don't want to win just Rajasthan. i want to win every polling booth".

The counting of votes will be taken up on December 11 in Rajasthan and four other states - Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana. While polling in Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Madhya Pradesh took place in November, the single phase Assembly elections in Rajasthan and Telangana will be held on December 7.
