Despite slump in the Indian auto market, Bajaj auto has witnessed a growth in its sales. Yes, you read it right. Bajaj Auto on Monday reported a 4 per cent jump in motorcycle sales to 3,51,291 units in June 2019. It is to be noted that the company had sold 3,37,752 units during the same month last year.
As far as the sales of domestic motorcycle are concerned, there was a decline of one per cent to 1,99,340 units in June 2019. In the meantime, the export sales witnessed a handsome jump of 11 per cent to 1,51,951 units during the month.
With regard to commercial vehicles, there was a comprehensive hike of 20 per cent to 53,333 units in June 2019 as compared to 66,677 units sold in June last year. However, the domestic sales of commercial vehicles dropped 11 per cent to 29,885 units during the last month under consideration, while the export sales dived 29 per cent to 23,448 units.
During June 2019, the cumulative sales of motorcycles and commercial vehicles of Bajaj Auto remained flat. While there was a decline of two per cent to 2,29,225 units in domestic sales, the export sales grew by three per cent to 1,75,399 units.
For the quarter ended June 30, 2019, Bajaj Auto witnessed a two per cent rise in cumulative sales to 12,47,174 units. It had sold 12,26,641 units in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.
During the financial year 2018-19, Bajaj Auto's exports grew by 25 per cent to more than 20 lakh units exported during the financial year. The export of motorcycle alone accounted for nearly 17 lakh units, a growth of 22 per cent over the nearly 14 lakh units the company had exported a year ago.
CT 100, Platina and Pulsar were among Bajaj Auto's bestselling motorcycles. The CT 100 sold was over 7,42,000 units, a whopping growth of 59 per cent over the 2017-18 financial year. On the other hand, Bajaj Platina was sold over 6,26,000 units, a growth of 44 per cent over FY18. The Pulsar range sold more than 9 lakh units in FY 2018-19, the highest ever sold in a single financial year.
