Suzuki registers 17.7 per cent growth in sales in May 2019

Suzuki Motorcycle India continues to get good sales in the country as it registered a growth of 17.7 per cent in May 2019, selling 62,596 units domestically as compared to 53,167 units in May 2018.

Also, Suzuki clocked a 22 per cent year on year growth selling a total of 71,640 units (Domestic + Exports) units as compared to 58,682 (Domestic + Exports) units in May 2018. The company posted total sales of 137,582 units for the period starting from April - May 2019 and has set itself a target of one million units for FY2019-20.

Devashish Handa, Vice President, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd. said, "Overall the industry is going through a lean phase. However, Suzuki Motorcycle India continues to grow at a double-digit rate. This is a testimony to the growing preference for Brand Suzuki amongst the 2-wheeler buyers in India. We have expanded our motorcycle portfolio with the launch of the New Gixxer SF Series in India. We are expecting a good response from customers and aim to continue our sparkling double digit growth story."

It is to be noted that Suzuki recently entered the 250 cc motorcycle segment by launching the Gixxer SF 250 in India. Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 has a 4-valve, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, oil-cooled, SOHC motor which produces the power of 26.5 PS at 9,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. The engine gets fuel injection technology and is mated to 6-speed gearbox.

On the features front, the all-new Gixxer SF 250 gets dual outlet type exhaust, split seat, seat cover, tank protector, DC socket, DC socket, digital speedometer, clip-on handlebars, LED headlamp and tail lights and smoked visor. Interestingly, the motorcycle also comes with Suzuki Easy start system.

The motorcycle gets a disc up front and at the rear and dual-channel ABS. It also have a telescopic suspension at the front and a monoshock at the rear. It has been launched in two colour options i.e. Metallic Matte Black and Metallic Matte Platinum Silver. The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 will cost Rs 1,70,655 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
